Canon Defies Science with 16MP 100K ISO with Smaller Sensor

Following closely on the heels of Nikon's D3S announcement which raised the bar in low light digital photography Canon has just launched the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV which ups the ante even further by claiming the same rated ISO performance with a greater 16MP resolution in a smaller sensor (APS-H, which has a 1.3 crop factor) allowing the use of smaller and lighter lenses and reducing vignetting issues. Canon Launches Blockbuster 7D D-SLR at 18MP, 8fps, 1080p Video, all at $1699

Canon this morning introduced the much rumored Canon 7D D-SLR. Cramming 18MP into a compact (1.6x multiplier) sensor the camera can run at a brisk 8fps. It comes with an all new and massively configurable AutoFocus and metering system. Sensor technology improvements help the camera retain good high ISO performance even with the relatively tiny (hardly more than 4 microns each) pixels (photosites). Read more »

Flight Photo Secrets -- Horned Puffin Take-Off

On cloudy days or for a change of pace, flight shots taken in front of colorful landscapes are a great alternative to the more traditional shots taken against a blue sky.
