ev_asiajan2013_0004We’re just back from a very successful photo tour of Southeast Asia – Cambodia and Myanmar. The first part of the trip found us exploring the Angkor and Rolous temple complexes in Cambodia, along with some of the surrounding countryside and villages. Having been visiting, photographing, and leading trips to the area for nearly a decade, the increase in tourism has been noticeable. Temples of Angkor – Cambodia Photo Tour, unique opportunity

angkor_wat_1346The name Angkor Wat conjures up images of a lost civilization and a glimpse into the ancient history of man. Despite being one of the seven wonders of the old world, Angkor Wat is only one of many dozens of temples in the area near Siem Reap in Cambodia. Each year I lead a photo tour to the temples of Cambodia and onward to Burma. This year, due to the way people’s schedules worked out, the Burma portion of the trip is sold out, but I have four openings for the first part of the tour in Cambodia.

We’ll meet up in Siem Reap, Cambodia, where we'll spend nearly five days photographing Angkor Wat and some of the dozens of nearby sites and villages. These temples, constructed between the ninth and twelfth centuries represent the apogee of one of the most powerful and influential cultures in Southeast Asian history. Southeast Asia–Cambodia Trip Report and December Photo Tour Announcement

We’ve never had a disappointing photo trip to Cambodia or Myanmar (Burma) and once again both destinations delivered for us on our recent photo tour. Whether it was sunrise from a balloon over the plain of temples in Bagan or sunset on the Irrawaddy River while we visited with fishermen and their families at their seasonal camp on the river bank the trip was chock full of great experiences and unique photo opportunities. And even though tourism is rebounding throughout the region there were still plenty of chances to get early morning vistas of ancient Khmer temples all to ourselves…
