Over the years we've found that many of our clients & friends want to participate in one of our trips but the dates we've scheduled just don't work for them or they'd like a customized trip for their family or friends. Rather than mass produce trips for every date we've instead started to offer custom safaris for groups so that we can provide the same high-level of personal attention, guiding and instruction adapted to your schedule and dates. [After a very successful 2014 event, we're looking forward to 2015]
Based on the continued success of the Lens and Land (Images for Conservation) ranches in the Rio Grande Valley and the great trip we all had this year and last year (a sold out safari with a full set of satisfied participants), I'm pleased to announce that I'll be leading another photo safari to the Lens and Land ranches next May. We'll have 4 full days (and an optional 5th full day) of private shooting at the premier award winning Dos Venadas and Campos Viejos ranches which are only open to guided groups. Hardy Jackson, our co-host, won the most recent Valley Land Fund photo contest on his ranch, Campos Viejos so you'll have every chance to take similar award-winning images (most recently this Harris Hawk image won the Grand Prize in the 2012 NWF Photo Contest.)
Maximum 5 photographers, Features 4 full days of shooting on historic private ranches
[Only one opening]
When most people think of Texas they don't think of hills. But the aptly named Hill Country is an exception. A broad band of land north of San Antonio it features hills, rivers and lots of cowboys, scenery, and especially birds...
2015 is shaping up as another great year for Bears & Puffins
It seems like just yesterday, but 2015 will be my 16th year returning to the Cook Inlet in Alaska to photograph America's most spectacular animals. And even though I'm just back, I'm already excited to announce I plan to head back again in July 2015.
Spending a week [6 nights, giving us 5 full and two partial shooting days -- longer than other trips to the area] with Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears, often called Grizzlies, is truly a life-changing experience. Unlike the bears at Brooks Lodge in Katmai, which are stressed out and offer very limited viewing, we'll be able to see bears in their native and un-stressed environment.
One day the bears will be grazing on the nutrient rich grass and the next they'll be up to their shoulder digging in the mud for clams. Without question these are my favorite weeks of the year.
We're guests of an exclusive small lodge -- the unique Silver Salmon Creek Lodge -- catering to small groups and accessible only by plane, and the bears are right in the area, so our shooting opportunities are maximized.

in with some from custom "family" trips we've put together to the same location):
Explore Burma (Myanmar) for a glorious 13 days and 12 nights
No country is evolving more quickly, and more positively, than Myanmar (for now, Burma to the UK & US governments). Thousands of years of Buddhist sites, history and culture are now open for tourism. Yet, limited infrastructure has meant that it is still a pleasure to visit, and no people loves Americans more than the Burmese -- we have been solidly on their side since WWII.
We will visit, explore and photograph amazing temples, colorful markets, and unique lifestyles throughout the country. Destinations will range from the massive golden pagoda of the Shwedagon to the hand-made wooden boats and "one-legged" rowers of Inle Lake.
For those who want to take advantage of the proximity of Angkor Wat and other Khmer temples, we may be able to offer an optional "pre-trip" to Cambodia (depending on interest level). Taken together, sites in Siem Reap (the Angkor Wat temple complexand surrounding sites) in Cambodia, along with Yangon, Bagan, and Mandalay in Burma (Myanmar) offer the opportunity of a lifetime to discover the legacy of several of the important cultures which form the Southeast Asian mosaic and to capture stunning images of lasting interest.
