Eric, I have been using a B+W SLIM C-POL 77E with good success for the past 8 years on a variety of Nikon glass. It does not color cast too terribly and does not add too much "grainy" stuff in blue skies. I beat mine to death shooting dirt sports

Eric--Like so many things in buying photo gear I'd give you a resounding "it depends." With modern zoom lenses which have lots of elements glare is such an evil force that I've tended to err on the side of getting high quality filters. But

To All, While trying to clean my polarizing filter I noticed several spots that wouldn't come off. They appeared to be areas where the coating had come off. Since it was no longer usable it now resides at the bottom of a lake and I need a replacement
