I just updated my Nikon Capture 4 to 4.1 and Nikon View 6.1 to 6.2. (WinXP) When I went to open a NEF file in PS CS, I simply got the old (PS-6) RAW window. I re-copied the ACR 2 file to the proper folder. When I check my plug in folder, it tells me that Camera Raw 2.1 should be there. Am I loosing my mind or did the Nikon Update disable ACR in PS CS?

Jim

This happens everytime there is a Nikon update.
Go into your CS folder, then Plug-ins, then Adobe Photoshop Only, then File Formats.

There is a file called Nikon Nef Plugin.8BI

Move that file out of the Photoshop CS folder.
CS RAW should work after that.

This appears to be a Windows-specific problem. Installing Capture 4.1updater, the latest Nikon View, etc. doesn't add a Nikon plug=in to Adobe Photoshop CS on Mac OS X. At least it didn't on my Mac systems (both a PowerBook and G4 desktop).

Hey gang

I am glad I could help. It drove me crazy until I ran across the information for the fix. It happens when Nikon View or Capture is updated. And as pointed out it appears to only happen to Windows os.
