This program is hands down the best; I recently tried Lexar's program on a card and it found only a few photos, the Lexar program (a freebie) was on my iMac. I then took the same card to my PC, where I had an older version of PhotoRescue; within minutes I had everything that was on the card.

With that I scrapped the Lexar program and purchased the newer PhotoRescue version 3.1..... and installed on my iMac; I'm also going to put the newer version on my PC, I went for the combo deal. Believe it will be the best $29 you will ever spent on software.

I concur! I had a card go bad back in the $100 for 128mb card days (2002). Kn owing that is was just another "drive" to the computer, I gave the free version a try to see what it would do...Well, the problem was that Mac version was a few months away... I saved the card and waited.

When the software was ready for prime time, I got it and salvaged all but a few images. What a relief!

I've tried other recovery software, but they always seem to crash or fail to deliver useable files. Raw files? Don't count on anything else but PhotoRescue. Its value is worth much, much more than $30, IMO!

In the years since purchase I have at least a card or two each year that needs help (usually somebody else' card now) and PhotoRescue never fails to save the day!

Larry--I chuckled a bit at your mention of recovering other folks' cards. I always have a copy on my laptop when leading safaris and it seems like at least once each trip I get to use it to recover something for someone.

I've also started using their card copy feature to make exact backups of the micro-SD cards in my phone, just in case one of those goes bad.--David

Hi David,

PhotoRescue makes saving your butt simple!

So far this year, I haven't had to use it. Maybe the cards are getting more robust or people are being more careful, but when my friend went to Argentina and had half her photos disappear, it made me a hero when I recovered her photos. Even better when she had lost the disc & I had the files still backed-up on another drive three months later and I sent her a replacement disc.

Back 'em up or weep!

Larry--Great to hear that it worked for your friend! I agree that it seems like the cards and cameras are getting better so incidents are less frequent. But when they happen they are just as critical--David
