Called a RocketFish. Faster than fast.

One issue I'm having with it, and I don't know if it is an issue with the card reader, or with Windows 7 (64-bit), but Windows will initially find it. I can download from it. But if I go back after initially downloading from it, it says I need to insert the media into the reader again. It's weird.

Anway, other than that little issue, I highly recommend this reader. It works with Compactflash, and SD and MicroSD and SDHC cards. I picked it up today from Best Buy for $35, I found a 15% off coupon good for yesterday through the 25th.

Mike.

Mike--Very cool. Any idea how it compares to the Lexar version?

Interesting about the glitch with having to re-insert the media. I've had issues like that in the past with Lexar's Firewire readers on the PC, but not so much with USB devices on the PC (USB seems to be more stable on the PC and Firewire on Mac, although both are generalizations).

The Delkin Expresscard reader is a disaster on my Windows 7 machine for some driver related reason, but my HSC Expresscard reader works fine as do my Lexar and no name USB readers.

I don't honestly know David. My old card reader died, and I got tired of waiting for pictures to download when connected directly to the camera. So I did a bit of research and found this one at a decent price.

We'll see how it works. My main machine is running Windows 7 64bit now, and my wife's machine runs Vista 32, so I'll do some tests on both to see if the re-insertion issues still continue.

It seems to be an issue in Windows 7 and XP Pro. Haven't had time to try Vista, but I would imagine it is an issue there as well if it happens on XP *and* Windows 7.

Oh well. it's a small price to pay for the speed of the reader, at least in my case.

Mike.

Well Mike I followed your lead and have ordered the same reader from Amazon, open-box item for $20 delivered. It was time to get a faster reader and speed versus price this one was hard to beat.
Thanks for doing the initial research.

Received the Rocketfish reader and used it today on my field laptop running W2Kpro. It pluged and played without a hitch. Nice reader, downloads faster than any other of my readers, and runs with no problems or issues. Very cool, I am pleased, the best $20 I have spent on gear in a long time.

Thanks for the tip Mike.

Rick--Great that the Rocketfish is working for you. I'm starting to get jealous enough to order one.--David

Rick - Glad it works well for you. I've still had re-insertion issues in XP and Windows 7, but other than that, it works quite well for me too.

Mike.

Mike, Update: I used the reader in my studio yesterday on my zoom-zoom XPpro machine with no problems. I have a friend that has Win7 machines, both 32 and 64, and will try it there just for the heck of it and will let you know the results.
