Dear Friends..

I have a big problem, I´ve a camera stated above.
ALL THE IMAGES of my bosses vacations in Disney simply were gone from the Nikon memory card.
I tried almost all the free Recovery softwares...
FIRST none of them recognizes my camera as an external drive. When inserted by USB it appears the name of the camera and everything. BUT NOT as an external drive. Is Nikon data recovery can help?

I urgently need of some help here.
Thanks very much.

Were you able to recover your photos? If so, how?

Also, some observations about how you reported your issue:

1) Were your photos still visible on your camera? I.e., was the card in fact the problem?

2) Did you try another USB port/another computer? USB ports have a nasty way of shutting down/misbehaving without letting you know. You can mitigate this by making sure that you remove the panel showing your camera's directory on your desktop and then (if you're using windows), use the "Safely Remove Hardware" button on your task bar -- before turning your camera off or removing the USB cable. Incidentally, I always turn my camera off before plugging in the USB cable.

3) If #1 is true, did you try to use a flash card reader instead of camera-computer USB connection?

The flash card reader is usually the problem.
Some are very finicky about what kind of cards they like.
Also most older ones and many new ones will not read UDMA or SDHC cards.

There are a number of possible failure points when trying to get images from the camera to the computer. The reason for my post was to encourage someone reporting a problem to try to identify the issue -- what failed? And if that person could post the solution it would be helpful to the rest of us.
