As far I know, adobe lightroom doesn't support heading(direction), the heading is to show which way do I shoot the photo. Now my Solmeta N2 GPS has a built-in electronic compass. So I wonder if the V2.0 of Lightroom can support this. BTW, N2 can support the workflow very well. It geotags the jpg and raw automatically.

Thank you

Cool that the Solmeta does the geotagging of Raw. That was an issue for many of the early products that added tags after the fact.

FWIW, DigitalPro for Windows does show the heading:-)--David

Thank you. I just downloaded this software and for compass, it can not detect the data, only says"magnetic compass". Anyway, it is good for geotag product.

I went to a Scott Kelby seminar on Lightroom and he showed the Geotagging in Lightroom. I didn't take notes but if you go to his website scottkelby.com you might find information on how do to this.

I am keen on geotagging, too. But there is no built-in GPS in my D300. So I add easytagger to work with it. Easytagger works perfect. No need software. Just record and embed the geo info into photo when I shoot.

Jord--For sure grabbing the geo info as you shoot is the most reliable. I use a solution from Red Hen which is certainly not the cheapest but works great and of course since the camera injects the data it goes into both Raw & JPEG.--David

David,

Which Red Hen product do you use? Blue2Can or DX-GPS

What GPS receiver do you marry it to?

Does their software provide all the functionality you need or do you need any supplemental/substitute programs?

Harry--I've grown attached to the older "hard wired" version, mostly because I have it attached to a Garmin Gecko 301 that I can use as a standalone GPS when I need to.

I still haven't found a bluetooth GPS that can also be used effectively standalone.

As far as software, I don't use any of theirs since I don't need to. The GPS automatically stamps the location data in the images so I can use DigitalPro to show where the images were taken, or any GPS-friendly display software.--David

David,

It sounds like you're using an older version of what they now call the DX-GPS (which mounts on the hotshoe with a holder for the Garmin receiver).

How does this compare with Nikon's GP-1?

I've been leaning towards the Blue2Can just because of it's size--it doesn't look like a radar detector mounted on top of your viewfinder. Just leave it on your camera(s) and marry it to a bluetooth GPS receiver carried in your pocket or bag.

Harry--The Blue2Can is definitely cooler. I was about to upgrade to one but like I said I found I've become addicted to having the Garmin do double duty as a backup GPS and I haven't (yet) found a bluetooth GPS with a display that can be used separately (there must be one, just haven't found it).

I've heard lots of good things about the GP-1 but haven't used one.--David
