Minor correction to what you've heard:

D300 has one CF slot, D3 has two. Whatever you've heard about two slots on the D300 is most likely sombody mixing up the two bodies.

When you get a chance to use it, try a u-point and open it up to all the sliders. Then play with the "S" (Structure) slider. It amazed me!

John,

I agree with you. Sometimes, too, we have to upgrade one or several things because of an upgrade in something else - shuch as buying a new camera then having to upgrade software to accomodate the new Raw files. When that happens, I

I meant what I typed -- the D300. I was told it had double CF slots. It's one of the reasons I think it's worth the money.

However, I'm interested in noise reports on the D90 from those who have bought one.

Weldon,

I agree about the cost and the time it takes to go through a new learning curve. Having said that, there are also times when the benefits truly justify the investment. I believe this is one of them. And, $99.95, for the upgrade,($9

Paul--Did you mean D300 or D3? You mention the double CF card making a backup and I'd be very embarrassed if I'd not noticed a second slot on my D300's after all these months:-) Or did you just mean that it uses CF like the D3, D2X, etc. which I agre

The old versions of Nik Sharpener (1 and 2) are darn good. It's really getting tough to keep up (financially as well as knowledge-wise) with all the software updates, new versions, etc.

Good day all . . . "web-stats" aside, I'd be curious to know if anyone has purchased a D90 and is seeing less noise than the D80 at either "standard" ISO200 or above. My druthers would be a D300 (best bang for buck in my view, and I love the fact th

Sue--Interesting to hear about an effective service alternative to Nikon. I've been a loyal Nikon Service customer for many years and still for the most part am quite satisfied.

Nik just released this new version of their sharpener program. You have to download the trial version to believe what it can do. I think it is the best I have ever used.

I hear ya on that. Doing just the pictures and a bulletin board for my own church has shown me quite a lot.

So far, I've got 78 out of 120 or so families, but that is after a couple months of shooting after Sunday services. I'd definitel

David,

It may not be as easy as I thought. I can easily redirect My Documents, but this does not include the rest of Documents and Settings, particularly "Application Data", which appears to have some configuration files.

David,

In theory this will accomplish my goals. The process looks straightforward and the restore default likewise (very simply, in fact). I'll give it a try over the weekend and let you know.

Thanks Mike.

I've been mulling it over and have a few more thoughts.

Church membership is pretty fluid, especially in the DC area, so a book that has removable / replaceable pages is probably the way to go.
