Nikon seems to follow the path of Fuji s8000fd, another "me-too" camera using the Olympus SP-560 designed lens.. or at least it certainly looks like Oly lens, comparing the specs. Exactly the same focal lengths and apertures, and similar looks. That's probably why it has a ccd-shift IS too, Nikon didn't have to modify/design the lens at all..

The market is flooded with cameras like the P80 (here you can catch Nikon P80 specification so I am disappointed with Nikon. I was hoping for a similar camera but that allows the usage of a Nikon speedlite, has RAW capability, has decent high ISO noise reduction and responds fast.

gubak--From what I can tell just about the only camera that does all that and is a P&S these days is the Canon G series (since they put Raw mode back in). It's particularly difficult to find a small P&S that allows you to shoot raw, which is a shame. Same for speedlight mounts--which actually used to be more common on the Coolpix line than they seem to be now (I guess everything is getting smaller & sleeker).--David

Here is a GREAT article on the Canon G9 just listed on Strobist. What got my attention is the sync'd SB-800s off the hot shoe!
